Aibileen Keet
December 19, 1959

That rat bastard. I mean, what kinda' narcissistic, puffed up, JACKASS do you gotta be to fire a body the week before Christmas?! Made a big show of it too he did, talkin' about how regrettable my dismissal was and how the recent economic downturn necessitated this unhappy event. Now I may not be more than an old ignorant housemaid, but that don't mean I cain't smell bullshit when it gets shoved up under my nose like that. Economic downturn my ass, payin' me just started to interfere with your needle buyin' fund, tha's all.
Lord Almighty, what am I gonna tell Lou? He was so excited too, 'bout almost havin' enough money to send that little girl of ours off to a proper school where all the little artists and scientists and everybody else who don't live in the Drop's kids go. Wants her to get a first class education, really make somethin' outta her life. Not wind up a maid for snobby rich people, or a glorified ditch digger like her daddy. No sir, she's gonna be a proper lady iffen it kill the both of us to get her there. One thing Rapture's got goin' for it; don't matter what color you are, as long as you got the cash to back yourself up. Don't look like it matters now though... Cain't do shit with only one paycheck, 'cept maybe put a couple more cans of potted meat on the table.
Lordy Lordy Lordy, we gonna be stuck down here forever.
Well well well, who might we have here?

My entry to the Bioshock Audio Diary Contest, that's what! Now while I do have a fairly nice microphone and audio editing software, I lacked a voice for Mrs. Aibileen here, so I just wrote this out instead of making a proper audio diary, sorry about that. I just didn't want to voice her, and risk sounding like the pasty little white girl I am. Which I would have. DX

I actually like the way the diary came out, and the 'photo' as well~ It's rare that I get an expression right the first go around, and this one just seemed to fall into place. Poor woman has had a damn hard life, and it doesn't really get any better. Both she and her husband are dead by the time WTR occurs.

For those who haven't completed the puzzle yet, Aibileen and Lou Keet are Abby's Mama and Daddy. Aibileen was heavily inspired by the movie The Help.
