Base edits Vs Freehand drawing

I really can't say how disappointed I am really with a lot of people on Deviantart. Instead of trying to freehand a character they want to draw, they whine about how they suck at drawing and go find an already poorly made base to simply slap some poorly made clothes and hair over. And these people get more credit for being better artists than poor little traditional media user who is struggling to teach themselves basic anatomy by drawing figure after figure, trying to get the hang of it!

This [link] Versus this [link] for instance.

Th base edit one come with a background! And color! And even though only about 10% of the entire image was done by the artist, it will still get called more successful than the other, which is in boring, bland pencil, even though that artist tried for some foreshortening, and drew both hands, and gave their character and expression that actually shows some emotion!

Now i'm not saying base edits are the spawn of the devil and anybody who uses them should be chased out of DA with cyber-pitchforks, but it would be nice if people who start drawing on their own for a change. You won't ever get any better at drawing the human body if you don't ever do it, and instead just recycle somebody else's (often incorrect anyways) base that they just ripped from their favorite anime! I mean really people! Do you want to have that mindnumbing cookie cutter anime style for the rest of your lives? Why not work on developing your own style instead?! Sure, it will be a good deal tougher in the beginning, but it will all be worth it in the end when you draw like this [link] and proudly exclaim that you did it all on your own.

This is the part where alot of people would say they are sorry if this offends anyone, but I gotta call some bullshit on that. If it really makes you sorry then you wouldn't have made it in the first place.

So i'm not.

This is how I really feel about this issue, and I hope those who disagree have the maturity to disagree politely.

Thank you

Edit : I realized just after I made this that this submission itself is a bit hypocritical. I made this stamp with a template, and all I did was put some text in and animate it. Well, at least my gallery isn't filled with em.

I agree. But however, I did used to use bases back when I was in high school. It was cringe, lol. So, now I only use poses as references. I'm getting a lot better at drawing human anatomy.
